How to take care of your leather

Proper care prevents the leather from drying out and cracking, and protects it from excessive moisture, which can cause swelling or even mold.

Cleaning

Clean the leather handbag with clean hands. The skin is prone to absorb fats and oils.
Once in a while, do a quick clean with a soft, dry cloth. (Possibly slightly damp, if the dirt does not come off with a dry cloth. However, do not use too much water, the leather dries slowly.)
Once a year, perform a more thorough cleaning to remove accumulated dirt. Rub the leather with a special leather cleaner. Apply a small amount of product in circular motions and wipe with a slightly damp and then dry cloth to prevent clogging of skin pores.
There is also a so-called skin conditioner that prevents it from drying out. Experts recommend applying it once a year on a soft cloth and gently rubbing the handbag.
Our tip: There are countless leather products on the market. If you are applying the product to the skin for the first time, we recommend applying it first to the inside of the handbag, or to the bottom part of the handbag, and observe whether the product has caused any unwanted reaction.

Storage

Leather handbags need to be stored properly. Air the bag at least once a month to prevent the growth of mold.
No matter where you place your purse in your home, be sure to place it a logical distance away from any heat or moisture sources, such as radiators, fireplaces, or windows with direct sunlight. Such factors tend to destroy the leather of the handbag rather quickly. If you live in a country with high levels of humidity, you need to be extra careful when storing your purse. Moisture is one of the biggest dangers when it comes to skin.
You can fill the bag with paper (newspaper can stain the inside) to keep its shape. Store it in a dust bag to allow the skin to breathe. The handbag should be stored in a clean place. In this way, you will make it difficult for dust to reach the bag and prevent cracking of the leather.
We hope these tips help you keep your handbag looking good for decades.
